Meet Adriana
Owner as of October 2023
In October of last year Adriana purchased Barr-ee Station from the incomparable Maggie Cox. Prior to buying the shop Adriana spent 3+ years working for Maggie as her social media marketing lead and an in store associate. Her family lives in Duck and can usually be seen running around the Waterfront Shops on a nice day. :) Adriana is looking forward to building on and continuing the Barr-ee Station's legacy as an Outer Banks' premier shopping experience.
Meet Maggie
Founder/Creator of Barr-ee Station
Maggie Cox was born in Scotland and raised in Australia. She is a long time business owner and resident of the Outer Banks. Maggie first opened Barr-ee Station in Charlottesville and later in Duck in 1988. Over the years, she's owned and operating 10 stores at one time in VA, NC and SC. Today, Maggie's focusing on her Duck storefront in the Waterfront Shops, caring for her horses, and doting on her family and friends.
Our Store
Barr-ee Station is named after an Australian ranch Maggie visited as a child, as well as one of Maggie's beloved dogs. The word "barree" is an Australian Aboriginal word for mountain.

Our beach boutique has been a Duck shopping staple for 35 years. We offer women's clothing, shoes, swimsuits and jewelry. You can also find a nice selection of men's and children's swim, clothing and shoes. We carry top brands such as FLAX, THML, Elliott Lauren, Hiho, and Cut Loose at perfect prices. Our swimwear brands are growing and include Seafolly, Carve, Jantzen, Anne Cole, La Blanca, Hobie, Ralph Lauren, Next and more.
Community Partnership
Maggie’s love for animals runs deep; in addition to her dogs, she shares a horse stable with her dear friend and is a champion of the Outer Banks SPCA and Humane Society.
In the past, Barr-ee Station held a tent sale four times a year with proceeds going to the Outer Banks SPCA. It became a shopping tradition for many and continues with a new Boardwalk Sale she started in 2023.
